Solar Blankets

When you invest in filling your pool with water then heating it to the right temperature, you want to keep that warm water in the pool. But, while nature provides some free rain water and lots of solar energy to heat the water, it also takes water and heat out of your pool.

Sunlover Heating solar blankets complement your ‘swim when you want lifestyle’ to add value to your pool.

Reduce water evaporation

Water is a vital resource - we do not want to waste it. A 1.3 metre deep by 9.2 metre by 4.5 metre pool holds about 54,000 litres of water. Depending on the climate and rainfall in your area, an average pool will lose between 100 and 200 litres of water every day.

Evaporation is constant through winter and peaks in summer when warm water, low humidity and summer breezes combine. “Topping up” this loss is equal to refilling your pool about every 12 months. A Sunlover Heating solar blanket will stop 97% of that evaporation. That saves about 52,000 litres of water a year.

Reduce heat loss

Pool water heat is also lost rapidly. About 10% is lost by conduction (into the ground) and convection (warm water touches cool water in the pool and shares the heat). A further 20% is lost by radiation (heat radiating into the air), and 70% goes with the water as it evaporates from the pool surface.

A custom fitted Sunlover solar blanket will hold 85% of the heat in the pool water.

Bubbles Increase Heat

The bubbles in pool blankets contain air, which is rapidly warmed by the sun. The warm air trapped in the bubbles transfers heat to the pool water and can increase your pool water temperature by up to 8 degrees centigrade.

Sunlover Heating solar blankets have about 11,500 bubbles per square metre – about 40% more than other blankets. Your Sunlover Heating solar blanket works harder to make your pool warmer.

Reduce Dirt and Debris

Airborne debris, dirt and dust may settle on your garden un-noticed. When they land in your pool, they look unsightly and contaminate the water. Sunlover Heating solar blankets prevent up to 90% of this air-borne rubbish from getting into your pool.

Your Sunlover Heating solar blanket works harder to minimise the stress on pool cleaning and filtering equipment and to reduce your work with the “leaf net”.

Reduce Chemical Loss

Another important benefit of a solar pool blanket is it will help keep pool chemicals in the water. Sunlover Heating solar blankets can reduce chemical and salt loss by up to 50%.

Your Sunlover solar blanket works harder to reduce your chemical and salt costs.

Protecting your blanket investment

Care and handling of your solar blanket is easy with a Sunlover Heating roller. Storing your pool blanket on a roller minimises the potential to damage the bubble material, and saves space and time.

Custom made to fit your blanket, Sunlover Heating rollers feature a large crank handle to roll the blanket on the spindle and large wheels to make light work of storing your blanket out of the way.

A Sunlover Heating roller makes your pool area safer and tidier, while protecting your solar blanket investment.

Selecting the right pool cover

Sunlover Heating solar pool blankets are designed to deliver long life in an environment dominated by UV laden solar rays, chemicals and salt. Sunlover Heating pool blankets are made from UV stabilised, chemical resistant, reinforced, and laminated materials.

Sunlover Blankets come in a range of thicknesses from 300 to 500 microns, and they are warranted from 3 to 10 years. All solar blanket and roller combinations are supplied with a free UV protective storage cover.

Solarweave Heat Retention blanket

Sunlover Solarweave blankets perform the special task of retaining the heat in the pool.
Made from reinforced, tear resistant opaque material, they are designed for spas, hot water and indoor pools.

Pool blanket rebates

To promote water conservation, some state and local governments offer pool owners a  rebate up to $200 on the purchase of solar pool blankets. While the criteria vary in different localities, Western Australia, Queensland, Brisbane City Council, Isis Shire Queensland, Alice Springs Council, and Tamworth Regional Council NSW all have offers.
